A message from Uncle Phil about the 2010 Saturday night pig roast

To All of my fellow Fisher-Persons;

If you got this in error, please disregard or let me know, as my computer took a major crash,
so we had to scrub the hard drive and start all over…..Ugly………….If I missed anyone, I am
sorry. (you will get over it)
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you for last years turn out, and the dollar
contribution to “Fish’n Mission”.  It was great.

This is a reminder that Jean-Marie & I will be putting on the PIG ROAST for the final Saturday
night. This pig will feed the whole group. Last year we pushed 80 people. I would like to handle
the set up the same way, assuming that every body wants to participate.
Just bring your bodies, and bring what ever you want to contribute, we will prepare salads,
pasta, rice, fruit salad and whatever else is available.
Just remember that we need to save a few dollars for our participation for “Fish’n Mission” and
give to Bruce. It would be great is we can match or exceed last year…if everybody put in
$30.00 that would be approx. $2,400.00!

I know we can do it again…….RIGHT >>>>
Should anyone have an idea that they would like to add, please feel free to run it by me, Larry,
Bruce or just a general e-mail to all.
I’m game for almost anything. The main thing is that it’s only 4 months away and I am already
planning my week in the wilds…
Hope you all take care and I will see some for opening day, and the rest at  F-O-R
Be good and may the Fish Gods shine on you……
Uncle Phil

Fish News:

The Fishin’ Mission Foundation presented 3 scholarships this month to 3 deserving high school
graduates, 2 from the Eastern Sierra Academy here in Bridgeport and 1 from Coleville High
School in Coleville, CA. These scholarships were the direct result of anglers donations from
within the Fishin’ Mission as well as anglers that are not affiliated with the Fishin’ Mission. As I
write this article, the Fishin’ Mission is out to vote on another donation of over $2300 to go to the
Bridgeport Fish Enhancement Foundation for upgrades and repairs on the 2 trout hatchery
facilities at Paradise Shores RV Park and The Virginia Creek Settlement here in Bridgeport.

Another fishing organization that has been coming to the Bridgeport area for the last 28 years
called “Fish-O-Rama” is 80+ anglers strong and has recently concluded their 2009 trek to the
Little Walker Rec Area. At their annual pig-roast dinner the gents from Fish-O-Rama gathered and
decided to make their own (tax-deductible) donation to the Fishin’ Mission Foundation. This
incredible group of anglers was able to scrape together $2100!!! They’ve asked the FMF to
earmark $1000 of this for an additional scholarship for a graduating senior in 2010, and the
remaining $1100 to go to the BFEF for their fish hatchery program. What a wonderful way for a
great group of anglers to make a mark on our little community. I can’t thank these guys enough for
making a difference.

If you’re interested in learning more about these organizations or how you too can make a
difference in the small community of Bridgeport, check out the links on this page!!

Again, many thanks to all of you who’ve contributed, this is a great “grass-roots” enterprise for
all of you to be proud of!

A Message from Bruce Blauvelt

Thank you to all the men at FOR 2009 for participating in the fundraiser for the support of the community of Bridgeport. If there are no objections, the scholarship to a deserving student from the Eastern Sierra Academy will be called the Fish-O-Rama, Robert Beck Memorial Scholarship in the amount of $1000.00. The balance of $1100.00 will be awarded to the Bridgeport Fish Enhancement Foundation. There are two facilities in Bridgeport, one at the resevoir and one at the small resort south of town at the U catch em pond. For more information about the vehicle we will be using to distribute our funds, you may visit the Fishin Mission Foundation at www.fishin-mission-foundatiion.org I hope we all realize the responsibility we have committed ourselves to, that is primarily the perpetuation of our scholarship and the continuing support of the local Bridgeport community.  Thank s too all again and remember, only 359 days left to FOR 2010.

On a sad note

222px-black_ribbonRobert Beck who I toasted at the pig roast, passed away today.

I’m sure he heard us all toast him as Steve, his son in law said he passed comfortably about 11:30 am today.

We will shoot some of his ashes via a shot gun shell at FOR 2010! He would love that as we all would know!

Larry
