Ladies and Gentlemen,

One of my personal goals every year is to make the hike up to Lake Emma during an annual fishing trip (29^th Annual Fish-O-Rama) in the eastern Sierra Nevada Mountains. Lake Emma is located at 9300 feet (MSL). I camp (along with around 70 of my closest personal friends) at about 7500 feet. The trailhead for the hike to Emma starts at 8200 feet and it is a one mile hike to Emma Lake (about a 20% grade on average).

This year’s hike to Emma was a very special goal for me. I was focused on making it to Emma throughout my six rounds of chemo-therapy. In a very real sense Emma kept me going.

There are four pictures attached to this email. The first is a picture of Emma Lake. The second is yours truly at Emma Lake. The third and fourth pictures are of me and my brother Roy (he’s the ugly one to the left) and me, Rick Johnston and Steve Kinsey. I owe special thanks to Roy, Rick and Steve; they “escorted me” up the mountain to Emma. I made the hike without any problem, but it was good to have a crew with me.

My next goal….do it all again next year!
